ABOUT
WHY US
Looking for a Sumatran surf adventure in one of the most remote archipelagos in Indonesia? We'll take you to the best breaks in the uncrowded Banyak islands, a little slice of paradise off the western coast of Sumatra. Our local team has unparalleled knowledge of the islands and surrounding waters and take great pleasure in showing off its world-class waves, reefs and deserted island beaches. The region is still entirely undeveloped. If you have a sense of adventure and a penchant for going deep, we’d love to welcome you. Indonesia has been a surfer’s mecca for decades, and the crowds prove it. Paddling in at world-class breaks like G-land or the Ments can be a hustle at the best of times.
But Indo is vast, and if you have a bit of time, you can still find perfect waves to yourself. Our archipelago is made up of 99 islands. Only seven of these are inhabited and some are tiny enough to hold just a couple of swaying palm trees. To the south you’ll find Nias, with its famous Sorake beach break, and further south still the Mentawais. To the north lies the island of Simeulue. When the waves are cranking you’ll be surfing your pick of six world-class breaks, not to mention finding more off the map when the conditions are right. The snorkelling is epic with clear water and a healthy diversity of fish, turtles and other marine life. Paddle board off the line-up at sunset, or if fishing is your thing, go after the the plethora of species found in the area. At night there are no bars or restaurants. It's Bintangs and going over the day's spoils.
THE CAMP
The surf camp floats directly in the middle of the Bay of Plenty directly in front of Dindos looking toward Gunters and Lolok, all visible from your deck. Yes you can watch turtles, try catch a GT and eat your pancakes all at the same time. The rooms, deck space, chilling and eating area boast the most comfortable in the area.
The rooms - All doubles with two single beds in each. Choice between fans or aircon, shelf, sitting area, charging ports and lamps, starlink internet. Great quality clean mattresses with mattress protectors and nets.
We’re a 2 minute speedboat ride to the breaks in the bay, 25 min ride to Palau Bangkaru using the fastest boat in the bay. Palau Bangkaru plays host to the infamous Treasure island, swell magnet Cobras and mellow Turtles.
Private western toilet and showers. Silent generators living in a floating hut 60m away from the camp keeping jungle sounds as they should be. We're happy to answer any questions you have, throughout our journey since 2015 we've had guests come back three, even four times in repeat visits.

THE KNOWN SPOTS
We have an epic range of spots to suit hell man Dave down to the newbies and seasoned cruisers. The range is perfectly split between Palau Tuangku appropriately named The Bay Of Plenty and Palau Bangkaru also boasting a range of rights and lefts situated in a protected marine reserve. Some detail below to go with your more mentioned spots. Either way you can be sure of one thing... The Banyaks has cultivated a vibe that attracts a different set of surfers than what you'd find hustling hard in the ments, Nias and other nearby chains we'll avoid mentioning. Get involved.
Gunters
Sick right-hander, very consistent wave in the archipelago, breaks perfectly big and small. Forgiving take off barrel, linking wall into a gnarly hollow second section barrel.
Lolok
Fast hollow left on mid-size, long drivey walls when big. Provides several sections running to the inside of the reef. Mad dogs will be rewarded on this wave, best served with size.
Cobras
A quality left hander swell magnet, when other spots aren’t firing you can expect long hollow lefts. Look out for another peak across the channel. Insane idyllic beach for getting your toes back in the sand.
Lizards Nest
The notorious Lizards Nest can be sensitive to conditions, caught in the right conditions it produces a special, unbelievable barrel going into double figures. The essence of surfing in Indo's last frontier.
